3rd Annual Armenian Genocide Memorial Run

May 5th, 2014 by

Specialty Car Craft Motogroup, LLC hosted its 3rd Annual Armenian Genocide Memorial Run on Thursday April 24, 2014. This year, the proceeds benefited the Kessab Educational Association (KEA). All money’s donated to KEA will be used towards #SaveKessab.

To provide a brief history on what occurred on April 24th, in the year 1915 the Ottoman Empire, which is the present day Turkey, massacred over 1 million Armenians. Armenians were forced from their homes and had them march thousands of miles with no food or water. They basically marched to their death. To this day, Turkey denies that genocide occurred.
March 21st, 2014, Kessab was attacked by forces opposed to the Syrian government. Kessab is an ancient Armenian settlement, dating back to the period of the Armenian Kingdom of Cicial. The attackers advanced from Turkish territory and were supported by Turkish military. The civilians of Kessab had to flee with the clothes off their backs. The attack occurred roughly 5am. Donations provided assistance for food, medicine, shelter, etc.

The Armenian Genocide Memorial Run started in 2012 and has raised $50,000 until today. The prior year’s donations went towards The Armenian Relief Society Orphan Fund. The money raised bought beds and much needed assistance to the Orphanage.

Rusnak was a proud sponsor of the 3rd annual Armenian Genocide Memorial Run.
